Happy life of Epicurus

Epicurus found that fear and desire were the main obstacles that had hindered people to bring happiness. Even if one would be as rich and famous as  possible, then the people tend to become even more and more greedy.

No matter how healthy the person is, the situation that he could lose his health, can destroy his life. One can not be happy if one need not feel fear about life after death. Happy one may be only then, when he does not know fear, that comes from a god or gods.

Epicureanism includes four new spot is reversed:

       a) none of the deity does not threaten him

       b) there is no life after death

       c) he did not need anything hard to get

       d) to endure the suffering is not overwhelming

Secularist understand at least points a and b, but the points c and d requires perhaps more explaining to do.

The main needs are related to eg. food, drink and housing. In connection therewith is epicurean modest. Basic needs are reasonable easily satisfied.

The goal of an epicurean is to first of all find out what they really need. After that, he wants to achieve a sense of confidence of the most modest things, and then he wants to get along with them.

First and foremost epicurean appreciate the restraint, but do not completely deny the reasonable luxury, but does not allow it to develop dependence.

In practice, suffering based on the discovery that a long and painful disease is generally very rare. Diseases are usually either short or long-ago suffering caused by less severe.

Epicurean has not to worry about death. When he is alive, he has no reason to worry about death, and he then is dead, no longer has he to worry about anything. We can say that when we are alive, death is not a present, and when death is a present, there is no life in which we would see.

When the fear of death is no longer poisoning our lives, this can make our lives very happily. Epicureans say that, as well as after death, a person will return to the previous life before he was born, because no one had existed then. That means there is nothing to be afraid.

We can say that Epicureans is not in accordance with their own time, could call them openly atheists; it showed the fate of Socrates, some time in the past. However, the gods of Epicurus transferred to the page, that they virtually disappeared from Epicurus and lived like his life. He stressed that the gods in any way take part in people's lives. According to Epicurus, therefore, the prayers and sacrifices will be in vain. The Greek gods were just role models Epicurus.

Epicurus was very close to Darwinism to argue that the current world is the product of chance, and the most he was ridiculed this claim due. He also believed Democritus atomic doctrine.

Very practical life looking Epicurus that people do not leave bad things to be done, because it is immoral, but because of contract prohibited by Community Affairs, may lead to the disclosure, even if it occurs in secret.

Common rules have evolved in such a way as to enable the Community action. Epicurus is not encouraged to participate in social decision-making, but encouraged as much as possible to create friendships within the Community. Which allows a happy life overcoming fear, are important instruments of Epicurus, according to friends, and philosophy.

Epicurus responded to sex very skeptical and afraid of causing unnecessary fears and frustrations. Sex was Epicurus believes actually superfluous pleasure, even though he accepted the marriage. However, the friendship for him was definitely more important than sex.
